Avocado is an important, abundantly nutritious and very familar fruit crop. Depending on the cultivar the fruit shape can range from globose to pear, the skin from green to black and the flesh from yellow to greenish yellow, weight ranging from 4 ounces to more than 4 pounds, and an oil content between 3 and 28%. With all the varieties that can be grown here, it is possible to have fruit available summer through spring. for instance our favorite avocado the Day ripens in September and is followed by the Winter Mexican ripening in October and then the Lula, a Valley favorite in November. There is a limited amount of fruit available as each variety ripens.
