This green-skinned Tropical Persimmon is also called the Chocolate Pudding Fruit because of it sweet, rich flavor reminiscent of chocolate mousse. The mature fruit is a dull green. Simply let it sit on the counter to finish ripening. When the fruit begins to turn black and is soft, it is ready to eat. You can eat it out of hand as is or mix it with a little honey or orange juice. Spooning the fruit over vanilla ice cream is a treat. Making smoothies and quick bread are some other wonderful ways to enjoy this lucious fruit.
Fruit from the winter harvest is frozen whole. When you are ready to enjoy this chocolate treat, simply rinse the frozen fruit under warm water to sluff off the rind, then thaw, remove the seeds and enjoy. Frozen Black Sapote that is being shipped will require insulated packing materials. The charge for this additional packing is $15. The fruit must also be send 2nd Day Air or Overnight Delivery.
